Registered Nurse Careers

If you are interested in making a difference, consider pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse. A typical RN license could be obtained in three years or longer, depending on program type and course load. A registered nurse should have one of the following:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN)
An ADN takes about three years, on average, and depending on course load. A BSN takes four years to complete, on average, and depending on course load. Obtaining an accelerated Master's Degree in nursing (MSN) is also an option, but not required. As an RN, you'll likely provide a number of services, such as:
  • case management
  • assessing and recording patient symptoms
  • monitor reactions and outcome
  • establishing patient care plans
  • promoting recovery
  • educate families on proper home-care
You may also choose from a wide range of specialties, from critical-care nursing all the way to in-school nursing.
