The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is a private, not-for-profit institute of higher learning with campuses in Chicago, Southern California and online.

The Chicago School is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the council for Higher Education Accreditation. It is also an institutional member of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology.

As such, our Programs include a synchronous "virtual residency" component -- a one or two-hour session (each term) in which all students are expected to be online simultaneously.

We provide Chicago School students with the resources and learning they need to enter and thrive in their chosen areas of practice and communities. To become a successful professional and leader, real-world experience is necessary in addition to academic preparation and field placement training.

Degree Program Information

The Chicago School's online master's degree programs in psychology are taught by faculty who are renowned experts in their fields, and deliver the same rigorous, world-class education that is the hallmark of a Chicago School education. Through the curriculum, students are able to integrate theoretical learning, with the practice of making a positive difference, and apply that learning to the workplace. All programs are designed to accommodate the full-time commitments of students with career demands and other obligations. Master's Degree Programs:

  • Forensic Psychology

    The rapidly growing field of Forensic Psychology focuses on the application of psychology and mental health knowledge to the law and our legal system. The Chicago School's Forensic Psychology M.A. program is the only one of its kind in the Midwest. It is designed specifically for professionals who work in fields such as law enforcement, corrections, victim assistance, court, probation and protective services, jails and prisons, and specialized agencies such as child advocacy centers. With two specializations, Adult Offenders or Juvenile Offenders, students can customize their learning experience.

  • Workplace Diversity

    The Workplace Diversity program is particularly relevant for people working in human resources, affirmative action, equal opportunity offices, and cross cultural workforces. The course work for this program focuses attention on three important areas: meeting the challenges of global human resources management, building ethical organizations, and promoting diversity within these organizations. Students will be prepared to: manage the challenge of balancing conflicting values across cultures; identify important considerations in international staffing; and develop a decision making strategy based on fundamental definitions of right and wrong that can be applied across cultures.   • Organizational Effectiveness

    This program offered at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology allows participants to choose from graduate-level courses to design an individualized curriculum to respond to their specific career goals, experiences, and challenges. Earning this degree will help you to identify limitations in current work processes, management approaches and team building practices, allowing you to help create a more effective workplace. Students will be prepared to: structure a compensation policy; design internally fair salary structures; leverage survey data to increase organizational effectiveness; and navigate fair employment and other important labor laws.   • Leadership for Healthcare

    Leadership for Healthcare Professionals is designed for experienced healthcare professionals. Current professionals will build the necessary skills to become successful in a leadership role in the healthcare field and to make business decisions that positively affect the quality of patient care. This program teaches participants to deal with the legal framework of the healthcare industry, its systems of care, and the implications of social, cultural, and behavioral aspects of health-related issues.   • Consumer Psychology

    This degree can aid sales managers and advertisers in the creative development of marketing strategies that will draw more attention to their brand, by building effective marketing, advertising, and merchandising strategies based upon the mastery and advantage of the psychology of consumer motivation and the decision-making process. The dedicated instructors are not only scholars, but also practicing psychologists with years of hands-on experience in the field of consumer psychology.   • Child & Adolescent Psychology

    Our child and adolescent psychology specialization equips students with the tools to address child and adolescent related psychological disorders and behavioral issues. Coursework covers crisis intervention, addictive disorders, family systems, interviewing skills and legal aspects of mental health. Students become competent researchers and are imparted with the ability to evaluate and assess the research of others.

  • Gerontology

    Our gerontology specialization equips students with the tools needed to address the mental health concerns of an aging population. Coursework covers the design of leisure and educational services, the psychology of aging, the sociology of aging and how to assess and counsel aging populations. Students learn how to effectively care for aging populations by understanding their psychological, psychosocial and physical needs.

  • International Psychology

    Our international psychology specialization imparts an understanding of the international dimensions of psychology in an era of globalization. Coursework covers the psychology of cultures, international psychology of gender and the behavior, attitudes and values associated with stereotyping. Students are able to synthesize the science of psychology from a global perspective.

  • Organizational Leadership

    Our organizational leadership specialization examines leadership from the psychological and behavioral perspectives. Coursework covers 21st century leadership modalities, the psychological science of leadership and emotional intelligence. Students are able to be effective leaders, regardless of the organizational setting.

  • Sports and Exercise Psychology

    Our sports and exercise psychology specialization instructs students in the ways to serve the psychological needs of athletes and sports teams. Coursework covers anxiety and energy management, motivation, visualization, theory and method of training and psychological assessment of athletes. Students are able to develop effective exercise regimes and enhance the performance of athletes.
